Process
The traditional chikankari technique involves hand-embroidery on Chanderi silk fabric. First, the fabric is pre-washed and stretched on a wooden frame. The embroidery design is then traced onto the fabric using a water-soluble pen. The embroidery process begins with the outline stitch, which defines the design. Then, various stitches such as satin, herringbone, and French knots are used to fill in the design. The embroidery is done using a fine needle and thread. After the embroidery is complete, the fabric is washed to remove the water-soluble pen markings. The finished product is a stunning and unique piece of clothing or accessory that showcases the intricate and delicate beauty of chikankari embroidery. At each stage of the process, great care and attention to detail are given to ensure the quality and authenticity of the final product.
